New Year, New Expertise: Welcoming Karoline Berge to the Safety Northwest Team!
We are thrilled to introduce the newest addition to the Safety Northwest team, Karoline Berge, who joined us this January as a Safety Consultant. A true Washington local, Karoline grew up in Puyallup and has always demonstrated a remarkable drive, completing her AA degree through Running Start alongside her high school diploma before heading to Central Washington University. It was there that she discovered her passion for the human side of the industry, graduating with a B.S. in Public Health specialized in Population Health. This academic foundation provides her with a unique, holistic perspective on safety—viewing it not just as a set of rules, but as a vital pillar of community and workplace well-being.
Karoline brings a wealth of boots-on-the-ground experience to our clients, having spent nearly four years at Walsh Construction Company. Starting as an intern in 2022 and quickly rising to Safety Coordinator, she gained extensive technical knowledge in high-stakes areas like fall protection, excavation, scaffolding, and crane operations. Her time in the field shaped her into a confident, decisive professional who understands the complexities of building types, budgets, and schedules. After a successful tenure at Walsh, she connected with Joe Mullens and decided to bring her field-tested expertise to Safety Northwest, where she is already helping our clients navigate safety challenges with practical, real-world solutions.
When she isn’t on-site, Karoline stays active and creative in the community she loves. She is an avid soccer player, competing on a co-ed team with her husband, Elvin, and enjoys everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer, from snowboarding to long walks. Her disciplined approach to safety is mirrored in her hobbies, which include playing the piano and practicing the traditional Norwegian folk art of Rosemaling. We are incredibly lucky to have her blend of construction grit and public health insight on our team, and we know our clients will value her expertise as much as we do.
